DNP releases their new app – Mobile Party Print for iPhone / iPad

The printing company DNP (also known as Dai Nippon Printing) has officially announced the release of their new iPhone/iPad/Android/Tablet application called “Mobile Party Print“. This application allows a user to print directly and wirelessly from their Apple device to DNP printers. The DNP printers that are compatible with this new app are as follows:
DNP DS40
DNP RX1
DNP DS80
Note: Only printers with WiFi capabilities will be able to print wirelessly from your network.

DNP calls this app a “mobile imaging solution” for parties and events. MPP will work on most Windows based PC’s and wireless WiFi routers on the market today. Since this app is geared towards event photography, photographers and photo booth owners will find it as a useful solution looking to print on-site wirelessly via their mobile device.

So what can this app do for you? Let’s take a closer look at Mobile Party Print

Here is how Mobile Party Print works: You can choose to use the camera on your smart phone or table to take a photo, or load a photo that is residing in your photo albums already. Once a photo has been taken/selected, you will be given the option to print. If your DNP printer is also connected to the same wireless network as your device, the app will communicate to the printer and send the print job over. While this app may be viewed as somewhat limited, it’s nice to see an app that is focused primarily on wireless printing.
Pros:
-You can now wireless print and share photos to DNP Dye-Sublimation printers.
-Mobile Party Print works on iPhone, iPad, Android, and Tablet
-Will integrate nicely with existing setups

Cons:
-Will not work with other printer manufactures’ printers – like Mitsubishi for example.
-If the printer does NOT have WiFi capabilities then the printer will need to be connected to a PC via USB.
-Photos are taken on the mobile device or phone instead of a DSLR camera.
-Supported DNP printers may be too expensive for the average event photographer
-Does not support mobile uploading to social media
