3D Photo Booth Technology From Japan Is Here
Subjects are printed into 3D dolls with a 3D photo booth

A company called Omote3D has developed some really cool 3D photo booth technology which is part of an exhibit they are involved with called OMOTEe 3D SHASHIN KAN.  The company has developed a way to capture people in their 3D essence; clothes, hair, facial expressions and more.  Utilizing specialized hardware, they can scan their subjects and transform them into a 10cm – 20cm full color 3D figure. While 3D printing technology is becoming more popular, it is interesting to see the different applications to which companies are developing software and hardware for. In this case, you could get an actual figure of yourself in the photo frame box instead of a traditional photograph. Welcome to the  3D photo booth.

We haven’t seen 3D photos quite like this before- given 3D technology typically requires glasses or special lenses of some kind to initiate the 3D effect (3D TV’s are becoming popular using this method). You may ask yourself, how much does one of these 3D photos cost? Well, around $250-$500 dollars. However there is a long line to receive a mini-me like doll figure of yourself due to high demand, but we hope to see this service continue well into 2013 as well as become more affordable. If you’re looking to adopt the 3D photo booth to your business, you’ll need to contact Omote3 directly.
